WESTPORT — “The Graduate,” one of the most memorable American movies of the last half of the 20th Century, will be screened Monday at the Remarkable Drive-In.
The film, chronicling a young man navigating life and love after college, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30) on the theater’s big screen at 50 Imperial Ave.
Ticket proceeds benefit the Remarkable Theater’s goal of opening a non-profit movie theater in downtown Westport that will employ people with disabilities.
Tickets can be purchased at the Remarkable Theater’s website: remarkabletheater.org
“The Graduate,” released in 1967, received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and won the Best Director Award for Mike Nichols. It launched the career of Dustin Hoffman (Best Actor nominee), and features a musical score of classic Simon and Garfunkel songs. The movie is rated PG.
‘Stand By Me’ screened Friday
“Stand By Me,” another coming-of-age drama, will be presented Friday by the Remarkable Drive-In.
The movie was postponed from last week because of inclement weather. Based on a Stephen King novella, “Stand By Me” was released in 1986 and directed by Rob Reiner. It is R-rated. The screening will start at 7:45 p.m., doors open at 6:45.
Coming attractions at the Remarkable Drive-In include “An Officer and A Gentleman” and “The Big Chill.” Dates for those presentations have not yet been announced.
