WESTPORT — Paintings by students in an outdoor class led by instructor Connie Manna are on display for the month of March at the Westport Book Shop.

The exhibit, which runs through March 31, features work by Barbara Silk, Angelina Wu, Frankie Gray, Agnes Paulsson, Paula Fleming and Cynthia Ellis, all participants in Manna’s “En Plein Air at Sherwood Island State Park” class last summer.

A reception for the exhibit is planned at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the book shop, 23 Jesup Road. To make a reservation to attend, call 203-349-5141 or email RSVP@westportbooksaleventures.org.

Manna’s plein air classes are open to people of all ages and levels of experience, and she encourages students to follow their instincts to “unlock and embrace their inner artist, while silencing their ‘inner critic,’ ” according to the exhibit announcement.

Manna, a member of the Artists Collective of Westport, is an artist and freelance illustrator who has collaborated with a variety of clients, including medical publications, advertising agencies and book publishers. Her work has been recognized in the Society of Illustrators 28th annual Book and Exhibition.

She earned a BFA from the School of Visual Arts.
