WESTPORT — The “diversity of nature” is the theme of a student poetry contest sponsored by the Westport Garden Club, in partnership with several other local organizations.
The contest — its formal theme is “Seeds, Trees and Bees … Oh, My / Celebrating the Diversity of Nature” — is open to all students in kindergarten through ninth grade. Partners are the Westport Arts Advisory Committee, Westport Poet Laureate Jessica Noyes McEntee and the Westport Library.
Deadline for entries is Jan. 6, 2023, and they can be submitted via email to: westportctgardenclub@gmail.com.
Entries must be typed and titled, and should include the student’s name, address, age, grade and school on the back of the entry, as well as a preferred email address for correspondence. For a complete list of the entry guidelines, click here.
Judging, according to contest organizers, will be made along the following scale: title, 10 percent; content, 40 percent; creativity, 30 percent, and style, 20 percent.
All poems become the property of the National Garden Clubs, which is the overall organizer of the contest.
