WESTPORT — A series of Sunday blues concerts at the Westport Library will be launched this Sunday, featuring a performance by keyboardist Mark Naftalin and others.
The first of the monthly “Blue Sunday” concerts is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the library. Register for free tickets to the event by clicking here.
The concert, in addition to Westport resident and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Naftalin, will include guitarists Chance Browne, Chris “Otis” Cross and Paul Gabriel, harmonicists Manny Foglio and Mark Zaretsky, bassist David Anastasia, percussionists Matt Moadel and Barry Urich, accordionist-pianist-vocalist Smokin’ Joe Najmy, sax player Crispin Cioe and Washboard Slim on the washboard.
While living in the San Francisco area, Naftalin produced more than 1,300 blues radio broadcasts on three FM radio stations, as well as more than 30 blues festivals.
His monthly broadcast, “The Mark Naftalin Show,” is now in its seventh year on radio station WPKN, 89.5 FM, and streaming at wpkn.org.
