WESTPORT — A selection of Rachel Hall’s photographs are on display through August 31 at the Westport Book Shop.
The photos in the show are all of local scenes. They “offer a visual narrative deeply connected to the surrounding environment,” according to the press release announcing the event.
Hall is a detective with the Westport Police Department. Her vocation and avocation aren’t as far apart as many people think.
“When it comes to being a detective, the truth is always there but it is being hidden and it is my job to find it,” Hall said in an email. “This in a lot of ways mirrors photography. The photos I take are what we as detectives call ‘in plain view;’ it is just a matter of how you look at it, when to pause, and where to focus.”
The book shop will hold a reception for Hall from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on August 26. Space is limited; please RSVP by phoning 203-349-5141 or by sending an email to RSVP@westportbooksaleventures.org
The art exhibit is open to the public during the Book Shop’s regular business hours. All photographs on display have been produced in limited quantities, and are available for purchase.
