WESTPORT — They’ll be dancing not in the streets, but at the … library?!?
Yes, a “Winter Dance Party,” featuring Christine Ohlman, longtime vocalist with NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” Band, is booked at the Westport Library on Saturday, Jan. 7.
The rock ’n’ roll evening gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Trefz Forum. Admission is $20; to reserve a ticket online, click here.
New Haven and NYC DJ, B The T Jr., will get the party started, spinning an all-vinyl set of soul classics.
Ohlman, a singer/songwriter and guitarist known as the “Beehive Queen,” will perform with her band, Rebel Montez, which includes guitarist Chris Bickley, drummer Lorne Entress and Michael Colbath on bass.
“I am so delighted to be returning to library’s beautiful Trefz Forum — where I collaborated with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Mark Naftalin this November in his Blue Sunday series — and to support one of Connecticut’s most important cultural venues,” Ohlman said in a library publicity release.
“Emerging from the pandemic with a new focus on the arts in Connecticut is very exciting,” she added.
Among the artists Ohlman has collaborated with over the years are Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Bruce Springsteen, George Harrison, Sting, Ronnie Spector and Chrissie Hynde, as well as appearing at Bob Dylan’s Madison Square Garden 30th anniversary concert.
Most recently, Ohlman performed on the “Saturday Night Live” 2022 Christmas broadcast, as well as performing at the 2022 Rhythm and Roots Festival.
