WESTPORT — A benefit for refugees settling in the region will be performed June 11 by singer/songwriter Diana Jones at Voices Café at the Unitarian Church in Westport.

The performance, set for 8 p.m. Saturday, June 11, will take place in person at the cafe and live-streamed online. Tickets for either option can be purchased by clicking here.

Jones, known for songwriting and performing since her 2006 album, “My Remembrance of You,” recently released, “Song To A Refugee,” which “brings her signature brand of storytelling to the worldwide refugee crisis,” according to a publicity release for the concert.

She has toured the globe, including performances at the Cambridge Folk Festival, Galway Arts Festival and Levon Helm’s Ramble in Woodstock, N.Y., as well as performing with Richard Thompson, Janis Ian and Mary Gauthier.

Her songs, often highlighting social-justice issues, have been recorded by singers like Joan Baez and Gretchen Peters. Visit Jones’ website to learn more about the singer and her music.

The concert will raise funds for the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants’ “Apartment Set Up Team,” which helps settle refugees in the area, according to organizers.

The institute was established over a century ago to help refugees, and its seven-year-old apartment team focuses on the range of housing needs for refugees who routinely arrive in the U.S. with little more than the clothes they are wearing.

Over the past six months, 72 volunteers have set up 41 apartments in Bridgeport and New Haven for 194 refugees. The value of that furniture and supplies is estimated at $48,000, according to a publicity release.
