NORWALK — A celebration of the region’s oyster farming heritage will take place this weekend, inviting people to see oyster shucking in action and taste the results.
Docktails and Oysters will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 20th, at the Norm Bloom and Son dock. The event is presented as a partnership between this namesake oyster farming company and the Norwalk Seaport Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Norwalk’s maritime heritage and revitalizing South Norwalk.
The event features fresh oysters from Long Island Sound, live music, and other festivities. Norm Bloom and Son, the cultivators of Copps Island Oysters, will provide demonstrations on shucking and preparing oysters. Appetizers from Seaside Sliders will also be available, along with craft beer and wine.
All proceeds benefit the Norwalk Seaport Association’s educational programs as well as the ongoing restoration and maintenance of the Sheffield Island Lighthouse. For information and to reserve tickets, click here.
