WESTPORT–This Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Westport Animal Shelter Advocates (WASA) will host a meet and greet with adoptable dogs at VFW Post 399. All pet lovers are invited to stop by to meet and learn about WASA’s adoptable, locally-surrendered and abandoned dogs in need of forever homes. 

Attendees can also bid on a signed Aaron Judge baseball and enter a door prize drawing for Penny and Gus NY Yankee dogs. Also available–while supplies last–are NY Yankee bear glasses. 

The VFW grill will be open for those who wish to “brunch with the pups”.  The menu will feature hot dogs, hamburgers and bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwiches. 

WASA assists and advocates for abandoned dogs. WASA is the onsite volunteer group for Westport Animal Control (WAC), Westport’s municipal shelter.  

At the shelter, WASA is onsite every day, to walk dogs, feed them and clean their kennels. 

WASA also funds the veterinary care for the dogs impounded at WAC and the purchase of special dietary food, toys, supplements and additional dog-care items to keep WAC’s “guests” happy and healthy. WASA members  also foster dogs in their homes.
