WESTPORT — The Westport Woman’s Club officially donated $300,000 to the town’s Emergency Medical Service on Thursday for the purchase of a new ambulance.

“When we read that a new ambulance was needed, we were able to donate $150,000,” said member Donna Richardson, “and then a member anonymously donated matching funds so that we could buy an entire ambulance.”

The presentation ceremony, held outside the club’s building at 44 Imperial Avenue, was followed by a reception.

“The women of WWC work to raise money and then give it away,” Richardson said, noting that $39,000 had just been raised for local nonprofits, while $36,000 is currently earmarked for college scholarships for Staples High School students.
