SOUTHPORT – The former American ambassador to the Russian Federation, who held this post during the start of the war between that nation and Ukraine, will speak about his experiences at the Pequot Library.
John J. Sullivan, author of Midnight in Moscow: A Memoir from the Front Lines of Russia’s War Against the West, will deliver the talk at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 13th. Visitors are encouraged to register for the event on the library website.
Sullivan has held diplomatic and legal positions for four decades, serving under five Presidents and holding senior positions in the Justice, Commerce, and Defense departments. A contributor to CBS News, he has frequently been cited in international media as an authority on foreign affairs. He is currently senior counsel in the private practice Mayer Brown, co-leading its national security practice.
Sullivan was the U.S. ambassador to Russia from December 2019 to October 2022. He published Midnight in Moscow, a memoir on U.S.-Russia relations in the lead-up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, in August 2024.
