FAIRFIELD — Families are invited to enjoy a free Flag Day celebration on the Fairfield University campus this weekend, with a wide variety of activities complementing an art exhibition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The event runs from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 14th, outside the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Attractions include live music from the Sweetcake Mountain Bluegrass Band, a complimentary ice cream and popsicle social, and families activites including a scavenger hunt, face painting by Picasso Parties, and a Pop-up Circus Zone by Circus Moves.

The university is also extending the hours at the Fairfield University Art Museum from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to give visitors extra time to view the exhibition For Which It Stands… This exhibition examines depictions of the American flag in more than 70 pieces by a diverse group of artists.

While the event is free, space is limited and registration is encouraged. More information is available at fairfield.edu/flagday.
