MONROE — The Staples High girls lacrosse team improved to 2-2 Saturday with a 6-4 road win at non-conference opponent Masuk.

The Wreckers got eight saves from goaltender Athinia Sarmiento.

Keira Best scored three times, Jaden Mello scored twice and Cameron Retcho added a tally.

Emily Ciquera and Scarlett Siegel both had assists against Masuk.

In Staples’ other win, a 19-5 triumph over visiting Fairfield Warde on April 11, Best scored five times, Mello notched four goals and Siegel had three. Ava DiConza and Ciquera both had a goal and an assist. Alice Anderson played in goal and made five saves.
