WESTPORT — A monthly folk music program will debut May 7 at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

The series, “First Folk Sunday,” is planned at 12:30 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month through December at the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399, 465 Riverside Ave.

Singer-songwriter Suzanne Sheridan, on vocals and guitar, and Bob Cooper, on piano, will be the featured performers, along with guest artists.

The first performance is set for Sunday, May 7. Brunch and beverages also will be available to purchase.

Sheridan, a 27-year Westport resident, has performed a Joni Mitchell/Leonard Cohen tribute concert at the Levitt Pavilion, at Voices Café and other national and international venues, according to a publicity release.

During her early career, she performed at venues such as the Bitter End and Gerties Folk City in New York. She also has won awards and recognition for her music, including an honorable mention at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
