WESTPORT — Natalie Chudowsky netted a hat-trick as the No. 3 Staples High girls soccer team defeated visiting No. 19 seed Hall of West Hartford 6-1 in the Class LL State Tournament’s second round Wednesday.

Evelyn Chudowsky, Coco Crombie and Annabel Edwards also scored.

The Wreckers will host familiar foe, FCIAC rival Greenwich, in the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Friday at Wakeman Field.

Greenwich, the No. 6 seed, defeated No. 11 Southington 3-1 to advance.

With a win Friday, the Wreckers would take on another FCIAC rival in the semis. No. 2 St. Joseph’s of Turnbull plays No. 10 Ridgefield in the other quarterfinal in Staples’ half of the bracket.

Staples and Greenwich played to a 2-2 tie in the regular season. The Wreckers also tied both Ridgefield and St. Joes in the regular slate, and St. Joe’s edged the Wreckers in the FCIAC Championship. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
