WESTPORT — The Staples boys soccer team continues to roll. They broke open their Saturday morning home match against Wilton, adding three second-half goals to their early strike. The 4-0 shutout lifts their record to 6-0-1.

Lucas Carpi scored the first two. The first tally, at the 10minute mark, began with Elliot Galin. His corner kick to Avery Mueller at the back post was redirected to Carpi near the goal line. The tall attacker headed in smartly.

The visiting Warriors played out of the back well. But defenders Santi Alfageme, Jack Schwartz, Adam Syah and Zach Beebe kept them far from goal.

Keeper Nick Sikorski was not truly tested, though he faced a few balls that skipped quickly on Wakeman Field’s wet surface.

Lucas Carpi, No. 5, heads in for his first of two goals during Staples victory over Wilton.

Yet Staples had only a one-goal edge at halftime.

The second strike — from Zach Gorin to Emmett Nivaud on the left side; he drove the goal line, then laid off to Carpi — opened up the game.

And the floodgates were open.

Ten minutes later, Gorin picked up a loose ball and finished crisply.

Mueller applied the coup de grace in the 67th minute, after corralling his own loose ball.

There is no letup. Staples plays again at 4 p.m. Monday at Darien. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
