STAMFORD — The Staples High football team put it all together in a 49-0 blanking of host Westhill on Saturday. With the win, the Wreckers improved to 3-1 heading into the bye week.
Quarterback Caleb Smith, who completed 13 of 23 pass attempts for 221 yards, thew for five touchdowns and ran for another.
Anthony Armentano also rushed for a score; he carried the ball four times for 76 yards.
Sam Petrosino had three receiving touchdowns. Nathan Smith had seven catches for 127 yards, including a TD reception. Alex Fiala caught a touchdown pass and rushed seven times for 59 yards.
Petrosino and Luke Goldman had interceptions.
Staples is scheduled to visit Wilton at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
