WESTPORT — Runners competing in the annual Fairfield Half Marathon on Sunday will be following a route that includes local streets, primarily in the Greens Farms section of town, according to a police traffic advisory.

The 3-mile Westport segment of the overall 13.1-mile event will see runners enter town via Greens Farms Road at the Fairfield town line, continue to New Creek Road, to Beachside Avenue and back into Fairfield via Pequot Avenue.

Most of the runners are expected to be on the Westport stretch of the race course shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, June 1, and for approximately the next two hours, race organizers have told police.

During that period, “through traffic will be stopped or severely limited,” police said in the traffic advisory, and warn motorists to expect delays. Westport emergency-services personnel will be stationed at points along the route to address problems that may arise.
