WESTPORT — The Staples High girls tennis team posted a 12-3 regular-season record before falling 6-1 to visiting Darien in the FCIAC Tournament quarterfinals this week.
The top doubles tandem of Audrey Kercher and Kerenna Birns won their match 6-0, 6-1 during the May 16 tourney action.
On the boys court, the Wreckers won their last seven regular-season matches to finish at 10-6.
They carried that momentum into the postseason with a 4-3 win at Warde in the FCIAC quarters on May 15, but lost 4-0 at Greenwich in the semifinals on May 17.
Both Staples tennis squads get back onto the courts for state tournament play beginning May 26.
