RIDGEFIELD — With a 29-save effort by goaltender Aaron Kail, the Staples High boys hockey team blanked the Wilton Warriors 5-0 at Winter Garden Rink on Friday.

With the victory, the Wreckers avenged a 3-2 setback to the Warriors earlier this winter.

Tyler DiMaio opened the scoring, assisted by Derek Wolgast and Jameson Russell, and the score was 1-0 after one period of play.

The Wreckers added to their lead with one goal in the middle stanza. Levi Nevstad was set up by Domenic. Petrosinelli and Nikos Ninios.

Staples put the game out of reach with a trio of net-finders in the third. Russell was assisted by Ninios and Harry Goodburn, and Goodburn followed with a goal assisted by Petrosinelli and Ninios. Cooper Paul capped the scoring and Jacob Gomez recorded the lone assist on the final tally.
