DANBURY — The Staples High hockey team skated into the Danbury Ice Arena and defeated the Joel Barlow co-op squad, 3-1, Wednesday.
Trey Wilson connected on a shorthanded breakaway for the game’s first goal. Cooper Paul also scored in the opening period and it was 2-1 Wreckers after one stanza.
Staples held onto its slim lead thanks to 26 saves from goaltender Mason Mountain. Tyler DiMaio sealed the victory with an empty netter late in the third.
Jameson Russell had two assists and Uzi Greenman had an assist n the win.
The Wreckers visit the Newtown-New Fairfield co-op, also in Danbury, at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
