Staples girls lacrosse came up with a big 9-7 win against FCIAC foe and host Fairfield Ludlowe, 9-7 on Tuesday.

Chloe Smith led the offense with four goals and Noelle Tybur, Maeve Best, Addie Talbott, Millie DiGiovanni and Daisy Hackett all scored.

The Wreckers improved to 5-5 and are ranked eighth, one spot behind Ludlowe (6-5) in the Class LL state standings.

Staples visits 10-0 Darien, tops in the LL rankings tomorrow at 4 p.m. Among the notable and competitive games this spring, Staples edged non-conference foe Cheshire 10-9; Cheshire is No. 4 in Class L. The Wreckers lost 11-10 to Ridgefield (No. 6 in LL) in overtime and fell 14-12 to Greenwich (No. 5 in LL).

Staples hosts Masuk (ranked No, 2 in Class L) Saturday at 12.
