WESTPORT — Staples girls golf had the tough task of looking to extend its two-match winning streak against defending state champion New Canaan, but the visiting Rams came out on top, carding 198 to the Wreckers’ 215 at Longshore Golf Course (white tees, par 38) on Wednesday.

Eliza Wadley had a 50, Kaitlynn Mitchell 52, Lucy Hill 56 and Bryn Lieberman 57. The Wreckers stand at 2-4 with nine matches to go.

Staples coach Patty Kondub said all of her golfers had an off day on the course but will head into next week’s action with positivity for next week on the road at Warde and Danbury.
