GREENWICH–Staples girls basketball went on the road and was beaten for the first time this winter, falling 55-42 to Greenwich on Friday night.

Staples fell to 9-1 overall (5-1 in FCIAC play) and the Cardinals improved to 10-1 (6-0).

Greenwich led 29-17 at the half. Chloe Smith scored 24 points, hitting four 3-pointers, came away with four steals and had a pair of rebounds for the Wreckers.

Freya Harvey had 11 points, two assists, four steals and four rebounds. Emma Asiel had five points and two rebounds.

Addie Talbott had two points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals. Riley Caney came away with seven rebounds.

Staples is at Wilton Tuesday at 6 p.m.
