Staples girls basketball poised for state tourney play

WESTPORT — Coming off a 47-33 regular-season ending win over visiting Norwalk on Feb. 15, the Staples High girls basketball team heads into the Class LL State Tournament with a road contest in the first round.

Staples is the No. 24 seed and will travel to No. 9 West Haven on Monday, Feb. 27; opening tip is at 6:30 p.m.

The Wreckers went 8-12 during the season. West Haven went 15-5.

The winner advances to face either No. 8 Enfield or No. 25 Manchester in the second round at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, (at the home of the higher seed).
