NORWALK — It took two overtime periods and a best of five shootout to decide things, but the No. 2 seed Staples High field hockey team got the job done.

The Wreckers edged No. 3 Ridgefield 3-2 in the FCIAC Tournament semifinals at Brien McMahon on Wednesday night.

The No. 2 Wreckers advance to face top-seed Darien in the title game, at 5 p.m. Friday at Wilton High. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)

Tyla Ozgen scored two goals in regulation.

Goaltender Paige Knesich made three straight saves in the shootout. Staples got shootout goals from Sofia Fidalgo, Emma Larit and Leah Larit.

The Wreckers lost to Darien 3-2 in overtime during the regular season, Staples’ lone loss in conference play.
