WESTPORT — There was no shortage of goals scored by the Staples High field hockey team in the last two games.

Defense was a strength as well with the team recording a pair of shutouts.

The Wreckers went to Fairfield Warde on Saturday and blasted the Mustangs 9-0, then returned home Monday to crush Brien McMahon 10-0. This was the team’s “Pink Game” for the program supporting breast cancer awareness.

Against Warde, Mary Stevens and Tyla Ozgen both scored twice and Sophia Fidalgo, Emma Nahon, Charlotte Strange, Alex Hackett and Francine Stevens all scored.

Adela Ardrey and Caroline Roschen each had two assists, and Emma Larit had one helper.

Against McMahon, Adrey, Fidalgo, Nahon and Ozgen all scored twice, and Alex and Chloe Hackett both hit the back of the cage with a goal apiece.

Larit notched a trio of assists, Ozgen and Strange both had two assists, and Ardrey, Mary Stevens, and Chloe Hackett also had assists.

Staples heads to Danbury on Thursday, Oct. 6, for a 4 p.m. contest.
