WESTPORT — The Staples field hockey team is looking like an offensive — and defensive — juggernaut just two games into the season.

Staples followed up a season-opening 10-0 triumph over Ridgefield last Tuesday with an 8-0 win over Stamford on Friday. Both games were played at home.

In the win over Ridgefield, Emilie Russell scored three times; Leah Larit hit the back of the cage twice, and Emma Larit, Mary Stevens, Storey Ahl, Sofia Fidalgo and Tyla Ozgen all added goals. Staples registered 23 shots on the cage. At the other end of the field Wrecker goaltender Paige Knesich made four saves.

In the win over Stamford, Fidalgo scored three times and Russell, Leah Larit, Stevens, Oakley Wilson and Alex Hackett all notched goals.

The Wreckers will host Trumbull at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
