WESTPORT–Staples field hockey fell 4-1 to visiting Darien on Wednesday. Leah Larit had the lone Wrecker goal.
The Wreckers fell to 6-3 overall and 6-1 in FCIAC action. Darien (6-0-1-0; tied an out-of-state competitor) is the top-ranked team in Connecticut and Staples sits in third, behind Fairfield Ludlowe (despite an overtime win over the Ludlowe Falcons this fall).
Coach Ian Tapsall‘s Wreckers will have a week off from game action before heading to St. Joseph Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. The Wreckers visit Wilton Saturday, Oct. 10 at noon and return home Monday, Oct. 12 to face Stamford at 4 p.m.
