FAIRFIELD–The Staples boys lacrosse team has never held the state championship. 

This year, after amassing a 14-2 record in the regular season, Staples drew the #2 seed in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference tournament.

With tournament wins against Norwich Free Academy, Fairfield Ludlowe and Ridgefield, Staples will vie for the state title tomorrow afternoon.

Winning the title will not be easy.

Their opponents are the #1 ranked Blue Wave of Darien, who have dispatched Westhill, Greenwich and Fairfield Prep in the CIAC tourney by a combined score of 54-14.

The game takes place tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart University.
