WESTPORT — Patience at the plate paid off for the Staples baseball team Wednesday, combining 10 walks with nine hits en route to a 10-0 triumph over visiting Norwalk.

Andrew Oppenheimer pitched a stellar game as well, allowing only three hits and striking out eight in six innings.

Oppenheimer helped his own cause at the plate with a pair of hits, and Jack Farnen also collected two hits.

Ben Cukier and Farnen both drove in a pair of runs. 

Luke Oakley, Max Jossen and Cooper Brundige all worked two walks.

The Wreckers will visit Ridgefield at 4 p.m. Friday at and return home at 4:30 p.m. Monday to face New Canaan. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest updates.)
