WESTPORT–The host and No. 3 seed Staples High girls’ soccer team blanked No. 6 Brien McMahon 3-0 in the FCIAC tournament quarterfinals on Friday.

Annabel Edwards scored the first goal and assisted the second goal with a beautiful pass to Evelyn Chudowsky to put the Wreckers up 2-0 up at halftime.

The second half saw more dominance from Staples. In her first varsity game after being called up from JV, freshman Freya Harvey came off the bench and scored to make it 3-0 Staples.

The Wreckers will take on No. 7 Greenwich in the semis at neutral site Fairfield Warde on Tuesday, Nov. 1 starting at 7. The winner of that game will face either top seed St. Joseph or No. 5 Fairfield Ludlowe in Thursday’s finals, at Wilton at 7.
