DANBURY — With a state playoff berth already locked up, the Staples girls basketball team was going for more Wednesday — a spot in the FCIAC Tournament.

Despite keeping their conference playoff hopes alive until the final game of the regular season, the Wreckers fell one victory short. 

Staples lost 58-55 at Danbury on Wednesday night, and got  bumped from f FCIAC playoff contention.

Fairfield Ludlowe, New Canaan and Wilton all finished 9-6 and grabbed the sixth through eighth spots, respectively.

Staples finishes the regular season at 8-7 in FCIAC play and 10-10 overall.
