MILFORD — The third time was the charm for the STORMAC co-op boys hockey team.
The Staples-Norwalk-Brien McMahon squad earned its first win in its third game this winter, defeating Shepaug 3-1 at Milford Ice Pavilion on Saturday night.
Berkeley Johnson scored twice and Mac Lawton had a goal. Cooper Paul assisted on two goals, and Mac Lawton, Harry Goodburn, Devin Harris and Jakub Laskovsky all had assists.
Goaltender Alistair Mukhtar stood strong in net and made 27 saves for his first varsity win.
The STORMAC powerplay scored twice and the penalty kill went three for four.
Up next is another Saturday night skate as STORMAC hosts the Newtown-New Fairfield squad in Milford at 6 p.m. Jan. 4. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
