WESTPORT–The Building Department this month issued a permit to demolish the apartment house at 785 Post Road E. The demolition work has begun.

The 2 ½-story apartment house was erected in 1910. Its eight apartments included two one-bedroom units and six efficiencies. It had 4,800-square-feet of living space, a basement, a crawl space, an open porch, a finished upper story and a finished half-story.

The property traded hands in 2015 for $1,200,000. The property’s current assessment is $825,900.

The 2.4-acre property is on the north side of Post Road East, between Splash Car Wash Westport and New Country Toyota.
