Experience. Vision. Balance. Why Westport needs Craig Schiavone on P&Z

Westport thrives when good planning meets fresh ideas—and few people bring that balance better than Craig Schiavone, candidate for the Planning & Zoning Commission.

I’ve worked with Craig since our time together on the Downtown 2020 Committee, where she helped shape the vision for a more connected, walkable downtown that celebrates our riverfront while keeping Westport’s small-town feel. She later co-chaired the Saugatuck Transit-Oriented Development Plan, one of the town’s most complex planning efforts, always emphasizing community input, traffic solutions, and design that fits our neighborhoods.

With her background in urban planning, historic preservation, and real estate development, Craig knows how to balance growth with what makes Westport special. She listens, builds consensus, and understands that planning is about people and community as much as projects.

As we face big choices about housing, sustainability, and traffic, we need voices like Craig’s—experienced, thoughtful, and committed to keeping Westport’s future bright and balanced.

Craig Schiavone for P&Z

In every election Westport is fortunate to attract two kinds of candidates, those who have never participated in municipal government but who want to serve, and those like Craig Schiavone who have been involved in political life for years in various capacities, who understand the intricacies of town government and are willing to continue to devote their time and offer their expertise simply because they care about our town.

We would be foolish not to accept Craig’s offer. She knows what she’s doing, she understands the land use process, and she will bring a thoughtful and creative voice to advance the work of the Commission.

I urge you to cast your vote for Craig Schiavone for P&Z.
