WESTPORT — Riverside Avenue will be closed to traffic briefly Tuesday evening to accommodate a memorial service for firefighters at Assumption Church.

The event is the annual Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters Annual Memorial Service, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, in the church, 98 Riverside Ave. The service is being organized by the Westport Fire Department and the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 1081.

Riverside Avenue — between the church and Saugatuck Elementary School — will be closed for “a short time” in advance of the service, police said in a traffic advisory Monday.

Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area as a result of the street closure.
