
WESTPORT — A three-car crash on Post Road West early Thursday sent two people — one of whom had to be cut from the wreckage — to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The collision occurred about 7 a.m. Thursday on Post Road West, near Marion Road, according to the report by Assistant Fire Chief Brett Kirby.
Two of the vehicles involved in the crash suffered “major damage,” the report states.
One of the drivers had to extricated from their vehicle by firefighters using hydraulic tools, and was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport EMS.
Another person also was taken to the hospital, according to the report.
The condition of the two people injured in the crash was not immediately available.
A stretch of Post Road West was shut down for about an hour during emergency operations, with Westport police in charge of traffic control around the accident scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
