WESTPORT — A single-car crash closed the Sherwood Island Connector Thursday night into Friday.

Westport police said the rollover occurred about 9:30 p.m. and ejected the driver, who suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver was taken to Norwalk Hospital.

A passenger suffered minor injuries and also was taken to Norwalk Hospital, Lt. Eric Woods said.

The incident is being investigated by the Westport Police Accident Investigation Team with the assistance of the Fairfield Police Accident Investigation Team, Wood said.

Wood said just before midnight that the connector remained closed between Post Road East and Greens Farms Road.

Police said after 2 a.m. that the roadway had been reopened.
