WESTPORT — A major downtown intersection was closed to traffic Tuesday for more than nine hours after a gas leak was detected.
Traffic was detoured from a stretch of the Post Road, at Main Street, from about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Police Department alert.
Repair work by crews from Southern Connecticut Gas continued throughout Tuesday afternoon and into the night, forcing diversion of traffic at one of the town’s busiest intersections.
The road was reported fully reopened shortly after midnight Wednesday.
