
WESTPORT — A second man has been charged with the daylight smash-and-grab larceny at Lux Bond & Green jewelry store last May.
Joshua DeJesus, 25, of Bridgeport, was charged Oct. 30 with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief.
The theft took place shortly after 3 p.m. May 9 when two masked, hooded men entered the Lux Bond & Green jewelry store, 136 Main St., and using hammers, smashed display cases to scoop up merchandise before fleeing to a car waiting on Elm Street, police said.
Store employees were uninjured during the incident.
On May 29, Javon Thorbourne, 30, of Bridgeport, was charged by police with similar crimes for his role in the theft.
DeJesus was taken into custody Oct. 30 in Bridgeport, where he was being held by police on an arrest warrant issued by Westport police.
He was transported back to Westport, formally charged and held on $250,000 bond for arraignment Oct. 31 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
