WESTPORT — A 31-year-old man has been charged with violating a protective order barring him from contacting a local woman.

Daniel Gourley, of Bridgeport, was charged with criminal violation of a protective order in connection with the Oct. 4 incident.

Officers were dispatched about 11:15 a.m. Oct. 4 to investigate a reported disturbance taking place inside a pickup truck. After the man and woman in the pickup were  interviewed, police determined there had been no argument.

However, according to the report, after a background check officers learned that a protective order had been issued against Gourley, preventing him from having any contact with the woman in the truck.

Gourley was placed under arrest and scheduled to be arraigned the next day at Superior Court in Stamford.

After Gourley was booked by Westport police, he was turned over to Norwalk police who held an active warrant for his arrest, according to the report.
