WESTPORT — A man found slumped over in his vehicle, which was stopped facing the wrong way on a local street, has been charged with possession of illegal drugs.

Matthew Prosnick, 39, of Bridgeport, was charged March 8 with possession of a controlled substance.

Police were dispatched about 1 p.m. March 8 to investigate a report that a vehicle was stopped facing the wrong way on the one-way section of Red Coat Road, with the driver slumped over in his seat.

The driver, identified by police as Matthew Prosnick, had “a clear baggie and straw in plain view on his lap,” according to the report.

Police were able to revive Prosnick and renove him from the vehicle, while a field test on the substance in the baggie, as well as others found in the vehicle, revealed the contents contained “cocaine and fentanyl,” according to the report.

Prosnick was placed under arrest, later released after posting $5,000 bond and scheduled to be arraigned March 18 at state Superior Court.
