WESTPORT — A 62-year-old man has been charged with trying to illegally withdraw money from a local bank account.
Louis Alvarado, of the Bronx, N.Y., was charged March 6 with third-degree identity theft and criminal attempt at third-degree larceny.
Officials at the local TD Bank office called police March 6 to report a man tried to make a fraudulent withdrawal from an account.
Based on their description, the suspect — later identified as Alvarado — was found walking downtown, according to the report.
After Alvarado was detained and “positively identified” as the man who tried to make the illegal withdrawal, he was arrested, police said.
He was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to be arraigned on the charges March 14 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
