WESTPORT — A Bridgeport woman, who police said is linked to larcenies at several area stores, has been charged with shoplifting more than $800 in goods from Stop & Shop last month.

Simone Buster, 36, was charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.

Police were called Sept. 10 to the supermarket at 1790 Post Road East to investigate a complaint that a woman had stolen merchandise valued at about $850. Police were told the suspect was known and identified the woman as Simone Buster, who allegedly was suspected of having committed similar crimes at area stores.

In addition, the woman fled the scene in a car, which after police checked the registration, was identified as owned by Buster, according to the report.

A warrant for Buster’s arrest was issued, and on Oct. 10, Bridgeport police notified Westport police that Buster had been taken into custody on the local warrant.

Buster was transported back to Westport and formally charged. She was released after posting $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 31 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
