WESTPORT — A 44-year-old man was charged with assaulting an elderly person during a “domestic violence” incident last week, police said.
Brooks Thopsey, of Easton, was charged with second-degree assault/elderly victim and violating a protective in connection with the Jan. 13 incident.
Police were dispatched to investigate a reported domestic dispute at a local home Jan. 13, where the complainant told an officer that an “intoxicated” Thopsey had assaulted an elderly member of the family and then fled, according to the report.
He was later found “lying on the ground behind the house,” police said.
A protective order, police said, also was in place barring Thopsey from having any contact with the complainant.
He was taken into custody at the scene, held on $50,000 bond and arraigned on the charges Jan. 16 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
