WESTPORT — An 18-year-old was driving while impaired when he crashed and flipped his vehicle near Roseville and Windy Hill roads last month, police said.

William Nevitt, of Weston, in addition to being charged with driving under the influence younger than 21 years old, also faces charges of reckless driving, passing in a no-passing zone and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Officers were dispatched to an accident scene about 8:45 p.m. May 14, where they found one vehicle that crashed and rolled over.

The driver — identified by police as William Nevitt — was complaining about injuries, police said.

Nevitt, who police said also “appeared to be under the influence of alcohol,” was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.

Witnesses told officers at the scene that Nevitt was driving in a reckless and aggressive manner prior to the accident, police said.

Following an investigation into the incident, police issued a warrant for Nevitt’s arrest, and he turned himself in June 8 at Police Department headquarters.

Nevitt was formally charged, and released after posting $500 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned June 28 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
