WESTPORT — A 76-year-old man was charged with impaired driving after a recent accident at Nyala Farms and Greens Farms roads.

Jack Prindiville, of Westport, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to stop at a stop sign in connection with the July 20 incident.

Police were dispatched about 7:15 p.m. July 20 to investigate an accident reported in the area of Greens Farms and Nyala Farms roads.

At the scene, according to the report, Prindiville was identified as driver at fault for the accident by failing “to stop at the stop sign on Nyala Farms Road at Greens Farms Road.”

The officer speaking with Prindiville detected the odor of alcohol, observed that he was unsteady on his feet and “had to be asked numerous times for his paperwork,” police said.

Prindiville reportedly was unable to perform a field sobriety test to standard and was placed under arrest.

He was formally charged at Police Department headquarters, and released after posting $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned July 31 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
