WESTPORT – Police arrested two Fairfield Residents on May 29 on charges of robbery and larceny following an incident that occurred at Westport Hardware on Post Road East on March 17.
Lydia Bell, 26, of Fairfield, was charged with robbery, larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny and threatening; and Joshua Loveras, 28, of Bridgeport, was charged with larceny and robbery charges, according to police. Both were held on $75,000 bail, police said.
The charges stemmed from a March 17 incident in which police responded to a larceny in progress at the store. The man allegedly entered the store first and looked around before leaving, followed by the woman entering and allegedly taking two power tools that cost $300, police said.
A store employee encountered Bell in the parking lot where she allegedly said that she had a knife and that Loveras, who was waiting in the car, had a gun, police said. Both suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle that had been parked in front of the store. Police were given the vehicle license plate number and video surveillance footage of the incident.
Arrest warrants were issued for both suspects and on May 29, and they turned themselves in at the Westport Police Department. Both were held on court set bonds and transported to Stamford Superior Court on May 30 for arraignment.
