WESTPORT — The “9-1-1” emergency phone system, which experienced disruptions Tuesday, was restored to normal operations by evening, according to a 7 p.m. alert issued by Westport police.

The statewide system was disrupted at various call centers earlier Tuesday, police said, although Westport’s dispatch center did not experience any problems with 9-1-1 calls.

As a precaution in case Westport’s emergency system is disrupted later, calls can be made to the Police Department’s non-emergency number — 203-341-6000 — and when prompted, press either 0 or 9 and the call will be transferred to a dispatcher.
